Wexford County Jail Roster Status
Official Wexford County sources reviewed did not locate a public online jail roster. The sheriff site has pages for commissary, inmate accounts, mail, money orders, visitation, and FOIA, but no current-inmate list, released-inmate report, mugshot gallery, or searchable jail profile was found. That should shape every Wexford County inmate records search. A commercial search result is not the official jail record, and a court case is not the same as live custody status.
The Wexford County Jail is operated by the Wexford County Sheriff's Office. It holds people arrested locally and lodged before court, people serving local sentences, people awaiting transfer, and people held for another agency. Sentenced state prisoners move into the Michigan Department of Corrections system and are searched through OTIS. Federal and immigration custody use different locators. Michigan VINE can provide custody or case notifications when available, but it is not a county roster.
Important: Because no official Wexford County online roster was located, call the jail before relying on any custody detail from another source.
How to Check Wexford County Inmates
The search process starts with the fastest official channel, then moves outward. Current jail custody is best confirmed by phone because the county does not appear to post a live public inmate list. Written records requests can document a booking record, booking photo, release date, or arrest-related jail record, but they are not instant custody checks. Court records become useful after arraignment or filing because they show case events and court charges rather than the jail's live head count.
- Call Wexford County Jail at 231-779-9217 for current custody status.
- Have the person's full name, date of birth if known, and approximate arrest date ready before calling.
- For bond, call the Corrections Division before paying at 231-779-9216, option 3.
- Search MiCOURT Case Search once a court case may exist.
- Submit a written FOIA request if a booking sheet, booking photo, incident report, or release record is needed.
- Use OTIS, VINE, BOP, or ICE when custody has left the county jail path.
The sheriff contact page at wexfordsheriff.org/contact-us gives the jail and sheriff contact block used for Wexford County inmate records routing.
That contact source is more reliable for a live custody question than an unofficial roster page because it points to the office operating the jail.
Wexford County Roster Search Fields
A normal jail roster would expose search fields such as last name, first name, booking number, date, or facility. Wexford County's official public roster fields could not be documented because no official public roster or search form was located. The useful table is therefore a gap table: it records what was reviewed and what cannot be promised.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wexford County jail roster field | Not located | Not located | No official public Wexford County jail roster or search form was found. |
| Phone lookup details | Caller-provided identifiers | Practical need | Full name, date of birth if known, and approximate arrest date help staff route the question. |
| FOIA request description | Written narrative | Yes by function | Describe the booking sheet, booking photo, arrest report, jail incident record, or release record sought. |
For sentenced prisoners and supervision cases, the search field set changes. MDOC OTIS accepts fields such as last name, first name, offender number, sex, race, age, offender status, and marks, scars, or tattoos. That does not make OTIS a Wexford County jail roster. It is the state system for MDOC custody and supervision.
Wexford County Inmate Profile Fields
No official Wexford County public jail profile was available to inspect, so fields such as booking number, mugshot, charges, bond, housing unit, arresting agency, court date, release status, and redaction behavior could not be verified online. Those fields may exist inside jail or court systems, but the public cannot assume they are visible through an official web profile.
| Field | What It Can Show When Releasable |
|---|---|
| Name and identifiers | Basic identifying data tied to a jail booking or court case, subject to redaction. |
| Booking date and time | When the jail intake event was recorded. |
| Arresting agency | The agency that made the arrest or lodged the person. |
| Booking or court charges | Jail intake charges or later prosecutor-filed court charges, which may differ. |
| Bond or hold status | Release conditions, bond amount or type, no-bond order, or outside-agency hold if releasable. |
| Custody or release status | Whether the person remains held, was released, or was transferred, when the record is available. |
| Booking photo | A requested photograph may be handled through FOIA, subject to exemptions or court restrictions. |
Request Wexford County Booking Records
The official written route for Wexford County inmate records is FOIA. The sheriff FOIA page says written requests are answered within five working days unless an extension reason applies, and the county FOIA summary explains request channels, response options, fees, deposits, appeals, and indigence discounts. Requests must describe the record well enough for staff to locate it.
Written requests can use the county form or another written format. The research lists submission by mail or delivery to Attn: Chairperson, FOIA Coordinator, 437 E. Division St., Cadillac, MI 49601; fax to 231-779-9745; email to FOIA@wexfordcounty.org; or the county's JustFOIA portal. If estimated processing costs exceed $50, the county may require a 50 percent deposit. Standard letter or legal paper copies cannot exceed $0.10 per sheet under the county summary.
The Wexford County FOIA landing page collects the public form, summary, and online request route used for inmate records that are not posted as a live roster.
For a clean Wexford County inmate records request, name the person, the likely booking date, the record type, and any related case or arrest number known.
Find County State Federal Inmates
Wexford County inmate records split by custody system. County jail custody covers pretrial detention, local jail sentences, transfers, and short-term holds. MDOC records cover state prisoners and state supervision. BOP records cover sentenced federal inmates. ICE ODLS covers adult immigration detainees in ICE custody or certain extended CBP custody situations. Michigan VINE can send custody and case notifications, and it lists 1-800-770-7657 for phone access.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | What It Does Not Cover |
|---|---|---|
| Current Wexford County jail custody | Jail phone, sheriff counter when needed, and written FOIA | Sentenced MDOC prisoners after transfer |
| State prison or supervision | Michigan OTIS | County jail inmates and city lockups |
| Custody notifications | Michigan VINE | Full jail profile records or court filings |
| Federal sentence | BOP Inmate Locator | County or state custody |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | Ordinary county booking records |
Wexford County has no official separate state prison, federal facility, or ICE detention facility located inside the county in the research file. The local MDOC office at 437 E. Division Street is probation and parole supervision, not a jail or prison.
Wexford County Jail Facility
The facility map resolves to one local detention facility. The Wexford County Jail and sheriff administrative office share the Lincoln Street site in Cadillac. Jail custody questions go there, while court records, county administration, the prosecutor, community corrections, and MDOC probation/parole are centered around East Division Street. That address split is important when a person needs court records after a booking rather than current jail status.

Booking Process in Wexford County
A Wexford County booking usually begins after arrest or warrant execution by the sheriff, Cadillac police, Michigan State Police, or another agency. If lodging is required, jail staff identify the person, record intake information, secure property, screen for safety and medical issues, and classify the person for housing. Booking is an administrative jail event. It is not the final court charge and not a conviction.
Wexford's inmate-account page states that each person booked into jail must pay the $12 state booking fee before release. That fee is separate from bond. If a person later is found not guilty on all charges or charges are dropped, the sheriff page says the person may petition for a refund using a form available at the sheriff's office and jail, with a check issued after requirements are met. Bond questions should be confirmed through the Corrections Division before payment.

- No-bond hold
