This is a private reference site, not a Wexford County government office. We cannot confirm whether someone is in custody, release an inmate, post bond, pull official booking records, or retrieve court files. Use the official office or portal that controls the record.

Where to Ask

For current Wexford County Jail custody questions, start with the jail or sheriff's office. The official sheriff contact page lists the jail at 231-779-9217, the sheriff's office at 231-779-9216, email at wcso@wexfordcounty.org, and the shared public address at 1015 Lincoln St., Cadillac, MI 49601. Published office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

Written public-record requests for sheriff, jail, booking, arrest, or related county records should follow Wexford County FOIA channels. The county accepts written requests through JustFOIA, by email at FOIA@wexfordcounty.org, by fax at 231-779-9745, or by mail or delivery to Attn: Chairperson, FOIA Coordinator, 437 E. Division St., Cadillac, MI 49601. The county FOIA materials say requests must describe the record well enough to locate it.

Court records after an arrest follow the court path rather than the jail path. The 84th District Court is at 437 E. Division St., Cadillac, MI 49601, phone 231-779-9515, and handles misdemeanors plus early felony proceedings. The 28th Circuit Court handles felony cases after bindover or waiver and serves both Wexford and Missaukee Counties. The Wexford County Prosecuting Attorney is at 437 E. Division Street, Cadillac, phone 231-779-9505, and may provide victim or prosecution-process information, but not legal advice for defendants.

  • For a person currently held at the county jail, use jail inmate records and then call Wexford County Jail at 231-779-9217 if the online path does not answer the question.
  • For a booking photo or mugshot request, use jail roster mugshots and the county FOIA channels when a releasable photo is needed as a public record.
  • For charges and case events after booking, use court records after a jail arrest, MiCOURT Case Search, the district court, or the circuit court.
  • For facility details, use the Wexford County Jail page listed in the footer facilities column.
  • For sentenced Michigan prisoners, use MDOC OTIS, since OTIS does not cover county-jail inmates.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator System.
